Over the weekend, I will show you how to take a portrait from the tentative first steps to a fully resolved painting. Along the way you will be shown how to produce working preliminary studies, how to best light the sitter and compose the portrait. I will demonstrate how to tackle the blank canvas with confidence, first by concentrating on tone, and then by introducing colour. Colour design, selection, mixing, and application techniques will be demonstrated.
